U.S. House of Representatives Republicans fought the good fight, but it’s time to end the government shutdown and ensure the federal government does not default on its debts, Rep. Robert Pittenger said Wednesday.
“I believe it was a good cause, a noble cause, and we rallied to the cause, and I think we did everything we could do,” Pittenger said in an interview with the R&L hours before a vote on legislation that both appropriates government funding over the next few months and raises the debt ceiling. “But with Democrats in the majority in the Senate and with a Democrat president, it was two against one and it was impossible to win.”
