WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following remarks on the Senate floor Thursday welcoming Senator Scott Brown:

“A little earlier today the Massachusetts Secretary of State formally certified the election of Scott Brown as that state's newest U.S. Senator and as the newest member of this body. Now he'll come to Washington and be sworn in on the Senate floor, as is customary, at some point this afternoon. We look forward to welcoming him. The people of Massachusetts are eager to have Senator Brown working on their behalf, and Republicans look forward to having him join our conference. This was a high-profile election. Now it's time to get to work.”
