Washington, D.C. – Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) today voted for the annual national security bill, which maintains benefits for active duty service members and assures the readiness of our troops. The bill now moves to the Senate and will then be sent to the President.
WASHINGTON – Rep. Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) issued the following statement today in response to Secretary Ashton Carter’s announcement that the Pentagon would suspend collections from California National Guard Members who received improper reenlistment bonuses:
WASHINGTON – Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) called on the Department of Defense to stop forcing the brave men and women who served in our nation’s military to repay their reenlistment bonuses.
Washington, D.C. – Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) voted for HR 5931, Prohibiting Future Ransom Payments to Iran Act. The bill passed the House of Representatives on a bipartisan vote of 254-163.
Washington, D.C. – Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) today voted for HR 5351 to prohibit the transfer of any individual detained at United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The bill passed the House of Representatives by a margin of 244-174.
The bill temporarily prohibits any funds from being used to transfer or release an individual detained at Guantanamo Bay to the United States or a foreign country until January 21, 2017 or enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2017.
WASHINGTON - Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) and Rep. Gene Green (D-TX) today introduced HR 5579, the Secure E-waste Export and Recycling Act (SEERA). This national security bill stops the flow of e-waste to China and other countries that regularly counterfeit electronics. The bill will ensure that such waste does not become the source of counterfeit goods that may reenter military and civilian electronics in the United States.
WASHINGTON - Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) today voted for H.R. 5471, the Countering Terrorist Radicalization Act. The bill passed with overwhelming support.
H.R. 5471 directs the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to take steps to combat terrorist recruitment in the United States. Specifically, the legislation combines three bills that previously passed the House this Congress including: H.R. 4401, the Amplifying Local Efforts to Root out Terror, or ALERT, Act; H.R. 4820, the Combating Terrorist Recruitment Act and H.R. 4407, the Counterterrorism Advisory Board Act.
WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) issued the following statement after terrorists struck a Tel Aviv market in Israel, killing 4 and wounding 16. Two Palestinian terrorists, disguised as Hasidic Jews, were apprehended immediately following the attack.
WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) voted for HR 4909, the annual national security authorization bill. The bill passed the House late last night with bipartisan support.
WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) today announced that Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow has received the Commander in Chief’s Annual Award for Installation Excellence. This award is given to one installation in every branch of the military for outstanding performance over the previous year.
