Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) today voted in favor of the Conference report to H.R. 4909, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2017.  The NDAA is the primary way Congress meets its most important constitutional obligation to provide for the common defense. 

Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) today voted for H.R. 4909, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2017.  The legislation corrects funding shortfalls that have resulted in a lack of military readiness and put our troops at increased risk.  The bill increases the number of troops in each branch of the military and increases troop pay by 2.1 percent.  Among other provisions, the bill also prevents the transfer of detainees from Guantanamo Bay to the United States.

WASHINGTON – After being sworn in to the 114th Congress, Congressman Andy Barr supported passage of H.R. 22, the Hire More Heroes Act, which exempts veterans already enrolled in healthcare plans through the Department of Defense or the VA from being counted toward the employee limit under the Affordable Care Act.  As an original cosponsor who helped introduce this legislation, Barr released the following statement applauding theHouse passing H.R. 22 with unanimous support:
