WASHINGTON- Today, Rep. Paul Cook’s (R- Apple Valley) bill HR 3286, the HIRE Vets Act of 2016, passed unanimously on the House floor. This bipartisan bill would promote private sector recruiting, hiring, and retaining of men and women who served honorably in the U.S. military through a voluntary and effective program. Specifically, it would create an awards program recognizing the meaningful, verifiable efforts undertaken by employers – both large and small – to hire and retain veterans.

WASHINGTON - Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) and Rep. Gene Green (D-TX) today introduced HR 5579, the Secure E-waste Export and Recycling Act (SEERA). This national security bill stops the flow of e-waste to China and other countries that regularly counterfeit electronics. The bill will ensure that such waste does not become the source of counterfeit goods that may reenter military and civilian electronics in the United States.

Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) today voted for HR 4369, which authorizes the financing of the transfer of ownership of the Ontario Airport from the city of Los Angeles to a new Airport Authority made up of the City of Ontario and San Bernardino County.  Rep. Cook joined with a bipartisan coalition of Inland Empire legislators in co-sponsoring this legislation. It passed the house with overwhelming support.

WASHINGTON- Today, Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) cosponsored HR 4956, the End Executive Overreach Act.

This timely bill prevents any money from being spent in support of enforcing executive actions that do not comply with legislative law and prevents administrative agencies from making “major rules.” Major rules would be defined in this Act as anything arising out of a presidential mandate or executive order, or one that creates an inconsistency in existing law. These prohibitions would be in effect until the end of this Administration, January 20, 2017.
