Pascrell Announces $1.1 Million Grant for Dislocated Workers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) announced a $1.1 million U.S. Department of Labor grant to the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development to improve services for dislocated workers in New Jersey. The Reemployment & Systems Integration National Dislocated Worker Grant aim to improve connectivity of integrated program information and data systems.

"New Jerseyans looking for work can run out of options when seeking jobs. This programs presents alternative approaches to finding work and matching workers with employers," Rep. Pascrell said. "I’m pleased to announce these federal resources that will facilitate connections in the labor marketplace to help our industries and our workers."

The Reemployment & Systems Integration National Dislocated Worker Grant program aims to improve the capacity of the workforce system to seamlessly connect dislocated workers, unemployment insurance claimants, the long-term unemployed and other jobseekers to all available services. These grants provide seed funding for at least one of the following approaches: common registration and case management systems connecting workers to all available services; online portals that exchange information and serve as hubs for online resources; or data integration efforts, which help workforce agencies improve labor market information for customers as well as identify and address layoff trends.

The Reemployment & Systems Integration National Dislocated Worker Grants is authorized by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, which was reauthorized in July 2014 with Rep. Pascrell’s support.
