Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO-02) released the below statement following the President’s final State of the Union address:

“The President was elected on his promise to bring ‘hope and change’ to the country.  For the past seven years, this ‘change’ has taken our country in the wrong direction and far too many Americans have lost hope. While President Obama expressed his plans for the future tonight, I will continue to work to address the issues plaguing our nation today.

“The growing threats of terrorism and Islamic extremism have instilled fear and insecurity in citizens of the greatest, strongest nation in the world. Average household incomes have dropped and the American workforce is at its lowest since the Carter Administration. Families are unfairly being forced to do more with less, all while costs for consumer goods, tuition, energy and most especially health care, continue to rise.

“Americans deserve better and with new conservative leadership in 2016, America will be better. We will work to eradicate fear and restore the hope Americans once felt. We will work to implement policies that bolster economic growth and will prioritize national security. We will work to provide families with more opportunities for success and we will restore the American Dream.”
