WASHINGTON (Oct. 12, 2016) — Rep. Luke Messer (IN-06) is urging the U.S. Department of Education to restore Pell Grant eligibility to approximately 16,000 students nationwide who were using the grants to attend ITT Technical Institute when it abruptly closed last month.

Federal Pell Grants are provided to low-income students pursuing postsecondary education, and lifetime eligibility for the need-based grants is limited.

Washington, D.C. (March 14, 2016)—Today, Congressman Luke Messer (IN-06) announced his team will hold “Constituent Services Workshops” in Greensburg, New Castle and Shelbyville over the next few months.  

These workshops are an opportunity for Sixth District residents to receive information and assistance with any Federal matter. Caseworkers will be on-site to help with Social Security, VA and Disability issues as well as to answer any other questions or concerns regarding government agencies. WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Luke Messer (IN-06) voted to override the President’s veto of the bicameral budget bill that repeals Obamacare, defunds Planned Parenthood and saves tax payers $516 billion.

In December, the House and Senate both passed the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act (H.R. 3762).  The passage of this bill marked the first time both the House and Senate voted to defund both Obamacare and Planned Parenthood.  On January 8, 2016, the President vetoed that bill.
