WASHINGTON, DC - On June 29th, the Department of Labor announced that it would award 98 Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program grants totaling more than $25 million to assist homeless veterans with returning to America ’s workforce. These funds will help homeless veterans across the country by enrolling them in programs providing emergency shelter, substance abuse counseling and treatment, and job training. The Michigan Veterans Foundation, which is based in Detroit and serves veterans in the Wayne County area, will receive a competitive grant worth $295,832.

The following can be attributed to Representative Conyers:

“Regrettably, veteran homelessness has long been a painful reality in our country. I am very pleased to see that the Michigan Veterans Foundation will be able to continue to provide a supportive environment to Wayne County ’s veterans.

Through these funds, the Michigan Veterans Foundation will be able uphold and expand its longstanding tradition of service to our community by providing important resources to homeless veterans so that they can find and maintain meaningful employment.”
