Brooks: President and Senate Democrats Must Commit to Balancing Our Budget
Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks (R-IN) offered the following statement in response to the budget plan President Obama released today:
“The President’s budget raises taxes and still fails to balance our nation’s checkbook. Taking more money from hardworking taxpayers to fund another federal spending spree won’t turn our economy around or help people find the jobs they need.
House Republicans have presented a better path forward. We’ve passed a budget that creates jobs for all Americans, keeps more dollars in the hands of taxpayers and preserves critical programs like Medicare and Social Security. We remain willing to work with President Obama and Senate Democrats to foster economic stability and growth. But it’s time for our colleagues across the aisle to admit we have a spending problem and come to the table committed to passing a budget that actually balances.”
