Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks released the following statement this morning after her first Business Tax Reform Listening Session in Fishers, Indiana:

“As Congress pursues comprehensive tax reform, the employers in our home communities must serve as our top advisors rather than the talking heads in Washington D.C.  Nothing can replace the wisdom earned through enterprise and hard work. There’s no question our tax rates should be lower and our tax code should be simpler. But getting there will take a team effort, and dialogues like the one we had today are a great start. I plan to take the comments and concerns shared with me this morning back to Committee on Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp and other colleagues in the nation’s capital. It’s time to reform an overly complex and burdensome system that drives dollars away from businesses and the people they employ. This is the best way to ensure stability that drives growth and spurs job creation.”

The listening session took place at the Fishers Train Station and included nearly 30 business leaders from around the 5th District representing industries such as finance, health, bioscience and agriculture.

The Congresswoman encouraged participants to share the email address tax.reform@mail.house.gov with friends and colleagues who may want to submit tax reform comments to members of Congress.  Helpful information can be found at http://waysandmeans.house.gov/taxreform/
