Brooks Backs Balanced Budget Plan
Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks (R-IN) released the following statement after voting in favor of the “Path to Prosperity” Fiscal Year 2014 budget:
“Today, House Republicans passed a responsible and forward-looking budget plan that aims to make life better for all Americans. Chairman Ryan’s proposal balances the nation’s checkbook with a simple but common sense principal: don’t spend more than you take in. Our own Hoosier state has lived up to this same standard for years, as have millions of hard working American families.
The House’s plan also repeals Obamacare and replaces it with smart and patient-friendly reforms. We realize our healthcare system will only work when it empowers people and not bureaucracies.
It’s time for Senate Democrats to recognize that more taxes and more spending are the failed policies of yesterday. The Senate’s insistence on over $900 billion in tax increases is bad for everyone. House Republicans know this, and have put forward a plan that will fuel economic growth and preserve America’s promise for today’s youth.”
