Kuster Welcomes VA Announcement that White River Junction VAMC has been Recommended for New Fisher House Facility

Press Release

(Concord, NH) – Today Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02), a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, welcomed the announcement by the Department of Veterans Affairs that White River Junction VA Medical Center had been recommended to serve as a site for new Fisher House facilities. Fisher House offers housing near VA medical centers to families of veterans receiving VA treatment.

“Fisher House facilities are so important to providing the families of veterans with supportive accommodations as their loved ones undergo treatment at VA facilities,” said Congresswoman Kuster. “Our veterans have put country first to serve our nation, and when they return home it’s our duty to put them first. Ensuring their families are comfortable while they receive treatment at the VA is a part of that duty. As a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I’ll continue to look for opportunities to improve care for veterans and advocate on behalf of our men and women who have served.”

Kuster has served on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee since taking office, and she has long pushed to increase access to healthcare services for veterans. She helped oversee the investigation into the mismanagement scandals at the VA in 2014. As a result of her leadership on veterans’ issues, Kuster was selected last year to serve as the Ranking Member of the Veterans’ Affairs Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee.
