Congressman Bob Gibbs

Representing the 7th District of Ohio

Art Competition

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congresional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district.

Any student in grades 9-12, who is residing or attending school in the 7th district, is eligible to participate in the competition.  Those who wish to participate must fill out the attached “Student Information and Release Form.”  Please note that the form must be signed by the student, art teacher, and parent and should be affixed to the artwork submitted.  Without this form filled out entirely, the artwork cannot be considered in the competition.  Please send only one submission per student.

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in the 7th District. The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.

The deadline for the 2016 Congressional Art Competition is April 1st. Submissions will be judged by the Ashland University Art Department. The artists of the top ten submissions will be invited to a reception at Ashland University. If you have any questions, please call the Ashland Office at (419) 207-0650.
