Sep 9, 2016
Press Release

Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) today announced $43,200 in federal funding from the Federal Aviation Administration for the Perry-Warsaw Airport, located in Wyoming County. The grant will assist the Perry-Warsaw Airport in funding a new automatic weather observing system-II.

“Grant opportunities that will give our local governments access to up-to-date technology to significantly improve the quality, efficiency, and safety of its daily operations is a smart investment and a responsible use of federal tax dollars,” said Congressman Collins. “Investing in infrastructure projects like the Perry-Warsaw Airport’s AWOS system will provide accurate, current, and site-specific weather information that will positively impact Wyoming County for years to come.”

“This AWOS system will give us accurate weather information that will undoubtedly improve the local air safety,” said Jim Brick, Perry Town Supervisor. “Overall, this system will empower economic development and enhance airport functions that will allow more businesses and individuals to use it. We look forward to continuing to work with Congressman Collins to support the Perry-Warsaw Airport.”

The Congressman’s office remains available to assist any local government pursuing a federal grant.
