Pelosi Statement on UN Human Rights Day

San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released this statement on the 68th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 10, 1948:

“Each Human Rights Day, we rededicate ourselves to the powerful challenge of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights to champion the ‘inherent dignity’ of every person.  

“Human Rights Day calls on us to honor with our actions the common spark of humanity within everyone.  All of us can and should find a way to stand up and step forward to confront the darkness of bigotry, persecution and violence, wherever it is found.

“Let each of us recommit to the work of protecting and promoting human rights in communities in the United States and around the world.”
