Liberty Science Center Announces Planetarium Renovations

Jun 16, 2016
Did You Know?

On March 15th, 2016, the Liberty Science Center announced a major renovation of its IMAX dome, making the non-profit interactive museum home to the largest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere. The planetarium’s opening is planned for December, 2017, and will further the Liberty Science Center’s goal of improving access to STEM educational resources through a wide array of exhibits, particularly focused on children.

Building New Jersey’s future starts with the next generation of scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. The planetarium will help inspire children to pursue STEM careers from a young age. As a former teacher, I understand the importance early education has on child development. Interactive exhibits engage students in learning, allowing them to experience science firsthand and inspire them for years to come.

The Liberty Science Center is open 7 days a week, from 9:00am-4pm on weekdays and 9:00am-5:30pm on weekends and is located at 222 Jersey City Boulevard, Jersey City. In addition to the normal exhibits, the Liberty Science Center hosts a variety of summer camps which provide children grades K-9 with backgrounds in fields such as coding, 3D printing, and even forensic science.
