Tips For Beating the Heat

It is not uncommon for the Central Valley to experience extremely high temperatures, sometimes breaking three digits. Heat is one of the leading weather-related killers in the United States, resulting in hundreds of fatalities each year and even more heat-related illnesses. Here are some tips to combating the heat. • Wear light colored clothing adn loose layers
• Use sunscreen, sunglasses, umbrellas and hats to prevent skin and sun damage
• Limit outdoor activity and avoid direct sunlight
• Never leave children or pets in a parked car or in direct sunlight
• Keep lights off, cover windows and minimize use of the stove or oven
• Head to a cooling center
• Stay hydrated
