Seniors Negatively Impacted by Obamacare: Medicare Advantage Cut by More than 16 Percent

Jul 21, 2014
Press Release

Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) today released the following statement in response to a study showing Obamacare has forced seniors in New York’s 27th District to have their Medicare Advantage cut by 16.43 percent.

“Obamacare continues to negatively impact individuals and their families in Western New York,” said Congressman Collins. “This study shows the President’s health care law is having a disastrous effect on our nation’s seniors. Medicare Advantage provides seniors with the level of health care they desire at a price they can afford. The drastic cuts to the Medicare Advantage program put the health and budgets of seniors across the country at risk. It is disturbing that the President and Democrats would stand idle, while Medicare Advantage is reduced in order to pay for a health care law that is inefficient and ineffective.

“I have made it a priority to protect the Medicare Advantage program from future cuts. Earlier this year, I successfully inserted language into the House passed budget that protected the Medicare Advantage program for our seniors. Unfortunately, the Democrat controlled Senate has refused to take up this legislation, which would have provided necessary stability for this essential program.”
