Second Annual Bipartisan Multi-District Academy Day

Our office is pleased to announce the Second Annual Bi-Partisan, Mutli-District Academy Day. We invite you to listen to speakers from the United States Air Force Academy, United States military Academy, United States Naval Academy, parents, and current attendees at each of the Service Academies. In addition to a wonderful speaking program, representatives from multiple Southern California Congressional Offices will be avaiable to answer all of your academy related questions! This event is open to all students in Southern California grades 6-11th.

The 2017 application cycle is now closed.

The honor of attending a United States Military Academy comes with the obligation to serve in the Military for at least nine years, including four years at the Academy and five years with the Service.

Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. Military Academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

To request a Military Academy Nomination from our office, please submit a complete application that includes: 

  • 3 letters of recommendation (at least 2 academic)
  • Official high school transcript
  • Official SAT or ACT scores (SAT school code: 7199 / ACT school code: 7272) 
  • One-page essay explaining why you wish to attend a Service Academy 
  • Resume of extracurricular activities
  • Current photo
  • A completed application form

Applications will only be accepted for students graduating in 2018 or earlier. In order for a student to be eligible to receive a nomination, they must have submitted an application to their Serivce Academy(s) of choice prior to 11/4/17. 

Please send your completed application to the attention of Ashley Fumiko Dominguez at 5055 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 310, Los Angeles, CA 90036 no later than October 20, 2017 (applications must be received by 5pm in our Wilshire office, not postmarked). You may submit your application materials via email (except official transcripts and SAT/ACT scores).  Letters of recommendation may be submitted via email directly from the recommender to Ms. Dominguez.  After you have submitted the requested information, you will be contacted to set up an interview for Saturday, November 4, 2017 (A Skype interview may be arranged for students that are currently out of state or otherwise physically unable to attend an in-person interview on 11/4/17.  Please contact Ms. Dominguez immediately to make her aware of your specific situation).  Please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Dominguez at (323) 651-1040 or Ashley.Dominguez@mail.house.gov should you have any questions. 

All students who submit a complete application with all application materials will be invited to attend an interview on Saturday November 4th, 2017.  Students will be notified of their interview slot no later than November 1st, 2017.
