This week I had the opportunity to speak with realtors, job creators, entrepreneurs, and families about a variety of issues ranging from healthcare to trade to the economy. I always enjoy attending round table discussions, participating in Congressional Forums, and meeting with families from the 32nd Congressional District to give them an update on my work in Washington.
This afternoon I was honored to serve as the commencement speaker at the Gary Jobs Corps graduation ceremony in San Marcos. The Gary Jobs Corps is the nation’s largest residential education and vocational training program for economically disadvantaged youth.
During the August Work Period I always enjoy meeting with North Texans and discussing important issues facing our communities and country as a whole. This week I had the opportunity to meet with small business owners, representatives from the healthcare industry, members of the National Tooling and Manufacturing Association and more.
Before Congress left for our August District Work Period, the House passed an important measure to combat the spreading Zika virus. While the House completed its work, Senate Democrats chose to put politics above the lives and safety of pregnant American women and blocked the funding measure not once but twice.
Every summer during the months of June and July I am delighted to welcome North Texas high school students to Washington to participate in my Pete Sessions Leadership and Growth Program.
