Congressman Pete Sessions

Representing the 32nd District of Texas

Sessions Statement on Aleppo

December 15, 2016
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions, Chairman of the House Committee on Rules, today released the following statement in regard to the ongoing conflict in Aleppo:

"Over the last five years, more than 400,000 people have died in a ruthless and complex civil war in Syria. While the President and his Cabinet have the authority and responsibility to conduct foreign policy on behalf of the United States, the policy approach taken by President Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and current Secretary of State John Kerry over the last four years has been largely incoherent and unclear. Furthermore, this humanitarian crisis has cost far too many innocent lives and forced millions from their homes. Simply put, the only constant has been this Administration’s failure to come up with a plan that has any chance of defeating our enemies, protecting the innocent, and ending this conflict. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the new Congress to combat terrorism in the region and bring an end to this conflict."
