Congressman Cedric Richmond

Representing the 2nd District of Louisiana

Flood and Hurricane Protection

As a region, we have seen first-hand the destruction that can come when our communities are not properly protected or prepared for a natural disaster. That’s why I am committed to ensuring that our communities receive the protection and risk reduction systems that they deserve. In Congress, that involves being a strong and clear voice for all of our communities, from Baton Rouge through the River Parishes to New Orleans, and using that voice to fight for the resources we need to fund protection projects. Then to make sure that those projects that are built provide the level of protection that is promised. It also involves working to fix the National Flood Insurance Program. While many of the most damaging provisions have been delayed, I know that work on this is not done. I am committed to working with people on all sides to come up with solutions for this issue.
