Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham

Representing the 1st District of New Mexico

Art Competition

The winning entry for our 2016 Congressional Art Competition is “Isolation” by Gavin Mosher, a student at Bosque School. Gavin’s entry was one of 197 pieces of art submitted by students throughout the 1st Congressional District. As the winner of the competition, Gavin will travel to Washington, D.C. for a ceremony in which his art will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.

The nationwide high school art competition is held each spring and sponsored by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives. During her two terms, Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham has raised awareness of the competition and expanded the size to be able to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the 1st District.

Merritt Barwell, of Albuquerque Academy, won second place in the competition. His piece will be displayed in Rep. Lujan Grisham’s Washington, D.C., office. Jenny Le, of Volcano Vista High School, won third place. Her piece will be displayed in the Congresswoman’s Albuquerque district office.
