In September, the Children’s Hospital of Orange County broke ground on its Pediatric Mental Health Facility, which will house Orange County’s first inpatient program that can accommodate children under the age of 12. It will also allow CHOC to open intensive outpatient programs and expand mental health services for children with chronic illnesses.

As I travel around Orange County, the people I represent have expressed their frustration with Washington. They witness the Obama administration making dangerous deals with our adversaries. They turn on the news to see a Congress depicted as partisan and gridlocked. They see a federal government that smothers small businesses in bureaucratic red tape. They see signs of an anemic economy.

A week ago Sunday, Americans woke to the news of the most deadly terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11. We mourn the 49 Americans who died far too soon, and we pray for a full recovery for the 53 who were injured. While many questions remain unanswered, it is clear that serious “red flags,” which could have prevented this attack, were missed.

Over the past seven years, Americans have been subject to aggressive federal government overreach, which has impacted every aspect of their lives.
