58th Presidential Inauguration

Thank you for your interest in attending the 58th Presidential Inaugural Ceremonies at the U.S. Capitol.  The 45th President of the United States will be sworn in on Friday, January 20, 2017.

The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) coordinates all activities around the Presidential Inauguration.  At the moment, we are awaiting details from the Joint Committee.  My staff will post updates here as information becomes available.

Inauguration Tickets

The Joint Committee issues a limited number of tickets to each House and Senate office.  If you would like to be considered for tickets, please call my Washington, D.C., office at (202) 225-3801.

As with previous Inaugurations, the National Mall will be open to those without official tickets.  You may also wish to consider attending the Inaugural Parade, although it is usually not possible to attend both the Inauguration and the parade.  More information will be posted here as it becomes available.

Tours of the White House and U.S. Capitol

While you are welcome to request a tour of the White House over Inauguration Weekend, please understand that, due to high demand, the White House is unlikely to be able to accommodate your request.

Tours of the U.S. Capitol are not available for security reasons.

National Museum of African American History and Culture

Due to its popularity, you must have a timed pass to visit the new National Museum of African American History and Culture.  The museum has currently given away all tickets until March 2017.  A small number of tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis each morning at the museum.  My office does not have passes to distribute.

Other Considerations

If you are planning to travel to Washington, D.C., during the time of the Inauguration, there are a few things to consider.  I suggest making travel arrangements as soon as possible, as most flights and hotels will fill quickly.  Keep in mind that this event is historically cold and wet.  The crowds will be very large, and guests will likely be outside for at least four hours.  While a full list of prohibited items has not been published, food, beverages, large bags (including diaper bags), and strollers have not been permitted in ticketed areas.  Because of the dense crowds, mobility is likely to be a challenge.  Please take these challenges into consideration when planning your trip.
