Spending
Our current economic situation is frankly the result of past Congresses’ collective failure to provide long-term, systemic remedies to reduce the deficit and reduce the debt. Simply put, what the federal government spends far exceeds what the government receives in revenue. This is true even in times of historic revenue.
This reality requires Congress to take action to address government spending. Additionally, over the last several years, government funding for many federal programs has increased at a rate that exceeds both inflation and the growth of the budgets of South Carolina families.
Changing the tax-and-spend attitude in Washington is not easy. However, hard work and perseverance to change that attitude will make certain our children and grandchildren are not forced to pay for the mistakes of our generation.
