Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jeff Fortenberry yesterday was sworn in to the 115th Congress as Nebraska's First Congressional District Congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives. Fortenberry took the oath of office with his colleagues on the House Floor yesterday afternoon.

“I am honored to serve in Nebraska’s delegation in the United States Congress,” Fortenberry said. “Many Americans are looking for new leadership models to offer a compelling, inspirational, and stable vision that can restore the security of our nation. At the start of this new Congress, we can rediscover common sense governance, right-sized economic models, and universal and foundational values.

“One of the strengths of the American system can be its capacity for constant replenishment. This time of government transition gives us the chance to reassess and realign. In response to our nation’s many challenges, a stronger America might be glimpsed through four mutually supporting principles: government decentralization, economic inclusion, foreign policy realism, and social conservation.

“As I often say, there’s nothing wrong with America that can’t be fixed by what’s right in America. But this will require bold resolve, innovative public policy, and a return to our highest ideals. I remain committed to restoring our national security, our economic security, and our community security, as well as rebuilding a culture that respects the life and dignity of all persons.”

Fortenberry will continue his service on the Appropriations Committee with frontline responsibilities for policy and fiscal reform.
