DeSantis Coordinates with FEMA to Quickly Assist Residents with Disabilities at Maley Apartments

Daytona Beach, FL – Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) thanks his colleagues at The Daytona Beach Housing Authority and FEMA for their assistance with relocating residents with disabilities who were trapped in their homes at Maley Apartments due to an elevator outage following Hurricane Matthew. "With coordination from my office, we were able to quickly relocate over 60 residents to temporary, handicap accessible housing until the elevators were operational," Congressman DeSantis said. "I am pleased to report that one elevator is operational and residents have been invited back to their homes."

Woods, Executive Director of The Daytona Beach Housing Authority, states, “It is with heartfelt gratitude and many thanks to the Honorable Congressman Ron DeSantis and his office for assisting the Daytona Beach Housing Authority in its Maley Apartments Hurricane Matthew Relocation / Recovery efforts as it pertains to activating and mobilizing FEMA to assist its Residents in registering for FEMA service(s). The Housing Authority of the City of Daytona Beach seeks to ensure the health, safety and security of its Residents and to provide housing that is decent, safe, sanitary and in good repair by restoring their residence to its pre-Hurricane Matthew state.
