Welch Delivers Remarks at Opening of Energy Policy Conference Committee
WASHINGTON – Rep. Peter Welch (D-VT) today delivered remarks at the opening of a House-Senate conference committee tasked with reconciling differences between two versions of a major bill encompassing energy and natural resources issues. Welch, a member of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee and House leader on energy efficiency issues, was appointed to the conference committee by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi in May.
“The wisdom of having a very aggressive approach on energy efficiency is really apparent,” Rep. Welch said as he outlined how the committee can find common ground on efficiency. His points included consumer cost savings, good local jobs, and a reduction in carbon emissions. A transcript of Welch’s full remarks can be found HERE.
