Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY) today congratulated the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government for securing a federal grant worth more than $14 million to support the Town Branch Commons Corridor project in downtown Lexington from the Department of Transportation. Congressman Barr supported the project through letters of support, phone calls to Administration officials, and working with Lexington Mayor Jim Gray’s office.
Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY) today voted for and the House passed H.R. 22, the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. The bill funds improvements to America’s surface transportation infrastructure including roads, bridges, transit systems, and rail transportation network. The bill includes a number of reforms to refocus funding on national priorities, provide certainty and flexibility for states and local governments, streamline approval processes, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation that includes a provision Congressman Andy Barr introduced that would transfer the licensing authority for the Valley View Ferry from federal operating licensing to a state-based operating license.
H.R. 4005, the Howard Coble Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Act of 2014, was passed by a bipartisan voice vote and contains Congressman Barr’s bill, H.R. 2570, the Valley View Ferry Preservation Act of 2013.
