Postal Reform
Liberal elitists for years have sold us a bill of goods saying take the politics out of this or that. They have just about succeeded, and the people have lost most of their control over their own government.
Our freedom and the quality of government service would increase if we elected more people who must answer to their constituents instead of turning over services to unelected bureaucrats.
Many years ago, political control was removed from the Post Office. Veteran postal employees told me the internal politics became much worse than the external politics ever used to be.
If every county elected its own postmaster, service would improve dramatically, but we could never pass this because politics is still a bad word to too many people.
Today, probably not even 1% of the American people could tell you the name of their local postmaster.
The postal service is also experiencing a financial crisis like at no other time in our history.
Since 2007, it has lost more than $25 billion, and it continues to hemorrhage money.
They are going to have to take some pretty drastic or unusual steps to stop that trend because it obviously just cannot keep going.
The Postal Service needs the freedom to make money any way it can; one idea that I am open to is allowing the Postal Service to advertise, and there are many other creative ways it could generate income.
