Roskam Votes to Send Obamacare Repeal to President’s Desk

Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, Congressman Peter J. Roskam voted to repeal Obamacare and provide much-needed relief to working families and businesses. For the first time, Congress has put a bill repealing the failed healthcare law on President Obama’s desk.

Congressman Roskam spoke about this historic vote on the House floor today and issued the following statement:

“We’ve sent the President a common-sense bill to eliminate the most damaging and unpopular aspects of the law, including the individual mandate and the job-killing employer mandate. We’ve repealed a dozen taxes that drive up the cost of care, including the medical device tax and the tax on over-the-counter medications. We’re putting a moratorium on federal funding for abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. We’re reducing the deficit for more than half a trillion dollars over the next decade. By ending these failed policies, we’re creating the space needed for real reforms.

“Now, there’s only one office between us and the repeal of Obamacare. That office changes in November, so in 10 months there is every opportunity for us to see its repeal and eventual replacement.”
