Senator Blunt Honored in Columbia with U.S. Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise Award

WASHINGTON – Last week, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce “Spirit of Enterprise” award. The award was presented by Columbia Chamber of Commerce President Matt McCormick, and is given annually to members of Congress who have worked to advance policies aimed at supporting small businesses, and fostering stronger economic growth and job creation.

“Small businesses are the cornerstone of our economy, and I will continue working to ensure that we have the right policies in place to help them flourish,” said Blunt. "That means lowering the tax burden on small business owners, reducing burdensome mandates and regulations, and taking advantage of all of our energy resources to keep costs low. When businesses have a stable environment that incentivizes growth and rewards entrepreneurship, all of our communities are stronger.”

"We appreciate the support Senator Blunt has for our business community and his voting record for pro-business legislation,” said McCormick. “Mid-Missouri relies on the support of our legislators to make the region and state more business friendly. This in part helps create jobs for the area and keeps the region strong. As a member of the business community that Senator Blunt serves, it was a privilege to present him the Spirit of Enterprise award on behalf of the Columbia and the U.S. Chambers of Commerce."
