Gibbs Statement on Rejection of Keystone XL Pipeline

November 6, 2015
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – This afternoon, President Obama formally rejected TransCanada’s application for the Keystone XL pipeline. After the announcement, Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement:

“President Obama’s formal rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline today is the latest example of his radical anti-energy agenda.  Rather than approve a project that will create jobs and lower energy costs for American families, Obama is making North American energy independence more difficult to achieve. Between the EPA’s new restrictions on coal, proposed regulations that will affect the emerging natural gas industry, and now the rejection of Keystone, it is clear this administration is willing to pursue an energy policy that will result in a less reliable grid and increased prices.  I will continue my work in the House to stop harmful regulations and promote an energy policy that encourages the responsible development of our natural resources.”
