Thank you, Mr. Chairman. This is my first mark-up as Ranking Member of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, and I am proud that this measure reflects the bipartisan and in-depth work that our panel has done over the last several months. I want to thank you, our office and committee staff and our colleagues on both sides of the aisle for working together to produce what I believe is a very solid mark.
WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-2), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Seapower Subcommittee, welcomed representatives from Connecticut defense manufacturers to the 2015 Sea Air Space Expo in National Harbor, Maryland. The annual expo provides a platform for companies to pursue business opportunities with the U.S. military and prime contractors, as well as highlight the important role of the sea services in our nation’s defense.
Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I want to take a moment to welcome our colleagues from the Coast Guard and Maritime Subcommittee, who join us today to review the new Cooperative Strategy for 21st Century Seapower.
Thank you Mr. Chairman.
Today’s hearing is a look at an important but perhaps overlooked element of our subcommittee’s jurisdiction. The witnesses from the Air Force will provide important insight into the budget request as it relates to “projection forces,” and I look forward to their testimony.
