Rep. Richmond Responds to Extension of the Flood Risk Management Comment Period

Washington DC – Today, the Obama administration announced that they will extend the comment period for the recent standards outlined in Executive Order 13690, Establishing a Federal Flood Risk Management Standard (FFRMS). Rep. Richmond (LA-02) has played a pivotal role in extending the comment period in order to enumerate what the impacts of the new standards on Louisiana.

“I am pleased the President has decided to extend the period in which we can gather all necessary information,” said Rep. Richmond. “We need to assess the full scope of the impact of the new proposed standards before we take any steps toward implementation. I will continue to work with our local leaders and the other members of our delegation to make sure there are no negative repercussions as we continue to rebuild and restore our community.”
