Rep. Richmond Announces $10.3M in Disaster Recovery Grants for Roads, Streets, and Bridges in the City of New Orleans

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Richmond (LA-02) announced the release of additional disaster recovery grants for infrastructure repair work resulting from a re-evaluation of Hurricane Katrina related damage. These grants, funded through the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be used to restore roads, streets, and bridges throughout New Orleans.

The State of Louisiana will receive the full $10.3 million to be utilized for road restoration and repair for multiple neighborhoods in New Orleans:

“It has been evident for years now that our roads and bridges have been in desperate need of repair,” said Rep. Richmond.  “This funding from the Department of Homeland security will improve the infrastructure in New Orleans and help create streets befitting our status as a major city. I will continue to work on the federal level to direct necessary resources to projects that Louisiana needs most.

NEW ORLEANS, CITY OF – Roads and Bridges
Declaration Date: 8/29/2005

This award provides $1,233,545.16 in federal funding to the City of New Orleans (Sub-grantee) for road repair work resulting from a comprehensive re-evaluation of disaster-related damage. The work is required as a result of Hurricane Katrina FEMA-DR-1603-LA, and is authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.


NEW ORLEANS, CITY OF - Roads and Streets

This award provides $9,098,216.61 in federal funding to the City of New Orleans (Sub-grantee) for road restoration work for multiple neighborhoods in New Orleans. The work is required as a result of Hurricane Katrina FEMA-DR-1603-LA, and is authorized under the Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
