Markey, and Congressman Richard Neal announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded the Holyoke Fire Department a $1,069,048 grant through the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant program.

Ford today announced a funding agreement on the recovery in Springfield that includes replacement of Cathedral High School and St. Michael's Academy on Surrey Road. These facilities were severely damaged during the 2011 tornado.

A commemorative coin that honors the 125th anniversary of basketball could be approved this year, according to U.S. Rep. Richard Neal (D-Springfield.).
 
Neal said the bill has 215 signees in the House of Representatives and the Senate. It needs 290, a number Neal thinks will be reached this year.
