Neal Weighs In On Brexit Vote

Springfield Congressman Richard Neal says he’s surprised Britain’s voters decided to leave the European Union by a decisive margin. Neal says despite the break off from the EU, he doesn’t expect the British government to completely isolate themselves from other European nations.

 

“Perhaps the United Kingdom will adopt a position similar to Norway and Switzerland,” Neal says. “While not being a member directly of European Union, they nonetheless adhere to customs, trade policies. the free-flow of capital, representative democracy and liberalized trade positions.”

 

Neal says with Britain being a top destination for U-S goods and services, the United States needs to be a participant as the UK begins the process of leaving the EU.
