I am committed to protecting America’s national security and all of humanity from Jihadist terrorism.
We must be ever vigilant to the threats we, and our allies, face in the world around us. Iran is quickly mastering their nuclear program. North Korea is doing the same. Radical Islamists seek to cause great unrest in the Middle East, ensuring that governments are toppled, and then installing their own leaders in the aftermath. Islamic Jihad has crossed our very own borders and threatens our way of life and the freedoms we hold so dear. Our electric grid remains vulnerable to both naturally occurring and weaponized electromagnetic pulse. All of this is extremely troubling in the world we live in today.
To maintain a solid national defense, the United States of America must do three things: we must continue to hold to our beliefs that made us such a great nation in the first place; we must be able to define terror for what it really is, being ready to call out a rogue nation or group that might be engaging in detrimental activity to freedom anywhere in the world, willing to go to any step to eradicate that threat; and we must secure and defend our border as soon and as efficiently as possible.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-08) released the following statement after being appointed by Speaker Ryan to serve on the bipartisan conference committee charged with producing a final National Defense Authorization Act to fund the military and secure the homeland:
Local eyewitnesses (along with Fox News, ARA News, and other outlets) are reporting that on Thursday last week in Mosul, Iraq, the Islamic State placed 19 Yezidi girls in iron cages and, before a crowd of hundreds, burned them alive for refusing to be their sex slaves. This is the state in which President Obama will leave the Middle East. It did not have to come to this, and would not have come to this if not for the serially heartless and incompetent decisions this President has made during his tenure as America’s Commander-in-Chief. Tragically, this will be his true legacy.

Dear President Rivlin,
The following is Congressman Trent Franks' prepared opening statement for the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice Hearing on HR 4924 the Prenatal Nondscrimination Act held Thursday, April 14, 2016.
Given the subject of this hearing, it seems appropriate to me that we all remind ourselves that the very bedrock foundation principle that gave birth to America in the first place was the conviction that all human beings are children of God and created equal in his sight.
As the Obama Administration continues to ignore the growing, existential threat posed by Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) technology in the hands of a terrorist enemy such as Iran and ISIS or in the hands of a more conventionally armed but equally psychotic North Korea, and in light of the Senate Democrats’ continued intransigence in blocking important Homeland Security legislation, it is incumbent upon the United States Congress to double-down on our proven Missile Defense technology.
