Congressional Art Competition
Each spring, a nationwide high school visual arts competition is sponsored by the Congressional Institute and the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent of our nation and in each Congressional district. In recognition of 200 years of Hoosier pride, Congressman Pete Visclosky and the Indiana delegation are pleased to announce that the theme for the state competition this year is Indiana's Bicentennial. The contest is featured statewide as a Bicentennial Legacy Project and young, local artists are encouraged to showcase the Region’s spirit by submitting an entry that celebrates the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Northwest Indiana.
The Congressional Arts Competition is open to all high school students in Indiana’s First Congressional District. The overall winner of this district’s competition will be recognized both in Northwest Indiana and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. The winning artwork will be on exhibit for one year in the U.S. Capitol and will be displayed alongside art from Congressional districts across the nation.
