Utah First

I recently had the opportunity to travel to central and southern Utah to meet with the people of Carbon, Emery, Grand, Juab, Sanpete, San Juan, Sevier, and Wayne counties. Like most who visit central and southern Utah, I am continually awed by the natural beauty found there. What a privilege it is for me to represent the people of this great state, and what a privilege it is to call Utah my home.
On Tuesday, July 26 at 7:45 p.m. MT, Senator Mike Lee will be hosting a statewide teleforum to discuss federal land policy. The Obama Administration is considering designating 1.9 million acres in San Juan County as the Bears Ears National Monument. Excessively large national monument designations like this are very controversial, because they ignore state and local government land management policy and silence the voices of local residents impacted by the monument by excluding their elected representatives in Congress from the designation process.
Senator Mike Lee invites you to join him for a live telephone event on June 29th at 5:30 p.m. MT. Senator Lee looks forward to sharing an update on the progress he has made with the Article I Project. He also would like to share recent developments with his efforts to strengthen online privacy and reform our criminal justice system. Most importantly, he wants to hear about the topics and issues that are important to you. Come join Utahns from across the state and add your voice to this important dialogue.
The journey on which these young men and women will soon embark requires more than physical and mental aptitude. It demands strong mental character—leadership, courage, honesty, prudence, and self-discipline—and above all, it calls for a steadfast commitment to service and a love of country. It has been and honor and an inspiration to meet and to nominate each of these exemplary young men and women. Doing so has given me an unshakeable confidence in the future of this great nation and the future of our Armed Services.

Most importantly, he wants to hear about the topics and issues that are important to you. Come join Utahns from across the state and add your voice to this important dialogue.

Today, the vast majority of federal “laws”—upwards of 95 percent—are not passed by the House and Senate and signed by the president as the Constitution directs; they are imposed unilaterally by unelected Executive Branch bureaucrats. The purpose of A1P is to develop, advance, and ultimately enact an agenda of structural reforms to strengthen Congress by reclaiming its constitutional legislative powers that today are being improperly exercised by the Executive Branch.
