“Our responsibility, as set forth by the House Resolution, is to produce the definitive report on what happened before, during and after the attacks in Benghazi so we can help keep our fellow Americans safe,” Chairman Gowdy said. “We cannot do our job without obtaining a complete record of the events. This hearing speaks to the broader issue of ensuring Executive branch transparency, accountability and timely cooperation with Congressional oversight. While we have worked with the Administration in good faith, the pace of compliance is not conducive to the effectiveness of this Select Committee. We have invited these agencies to answer for why they have not provided, in a timely manner, the Committee with the documents and access to witnesses requested to conduct a complete and fact-based investigation.”
