Congressman Tim Ryan Votes Against FY 2017 Continuing Resolution

Dec 8, 2016

Washington, DC – Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH) today made the following statement after voting against the Fiscal Year 2017 Continuing Resolution; which only funds the United States government though April 28, 2017. This legislation failed to include the bipartisan Miners Protection Act.

“I voted against this legislation because Republicans in Congress refused to include provisions that would give retirement security to 22,500 coal miners in Ohio and across the country who will lose their health coverage and pensions in the new year. To leave them out of this bill is heartless and wrong. These men and women now have to worry about how they are going to pay their medical bills or put dinner on the table this holiday season."
