WASHINGTON, DC – On Friday, the House pass the final bill that fully funds the Department of Defense, gives U.S. service members a pay raise, and ensures America lives up to our commitments to allies.
WASHINGTON, DC – After the release of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s (OGR) report on the Politicization of the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Rulemaking, Congressman Bob Gibbs, Chairman of the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee, made the following statement:
WASHINGTON, DC – Continuing his efforts to rein in out-of-control regulators, Congressman Bob Gibbs joined a bipartisan group in Congress to stop regulations costing $1 billion or more until any pending litigation is completed. With more major regulations being challenged in court, the status of those regulations, including compliance requirements for American businesses, can be left in limbo.
WASHINGTON, DC – Taking action to ensure Washington bureaucrats are held accountable, the House passed legislation today increasing transparency in the regulatory process. H.R. 5226, the Regulatory Integrity Act, requires executive branch agencies to create a publicly available, easily searchable system that lists pending regulations and rules before they are finalized.
WASHINGTON, DC – The ability of health care professionals to refuse to participate in abortions got a boost today as the House of Representatives voted to pass the Conscience Protection Act.
WASHINGTON, DC – After last week’s announcement by the CDC and EPA, Congressman Bob Gibbs led colleagues from House and Senate leadership in demanding President Obama give all Americans the same protections against the Zika virus.
WASHINGTON, DC – With Tax Day this past Monday and the sting of dealing with the Internal Revenue Service still fresh in the minds of millions of Americans, the House approved several bills to reform the government agency this week. Following passage of two bills yesterday, the House voted on H.R. 3724, the Ensuring Integrity of the IRS Workforce Act this morning. H.R. 3724 prevents the IRS from rehiring former employees who were fired for misconduct.
The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) sole power to set prices for broadband internet access will be stopped according to a bill passed by the House of Representatives this morning. H.R. 2666, the No Rate Regulation for Broadband Internet Access Act is in response to the FCC’s actions last year that reclassified broadband internet as a Title II utility. While FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler pledged at the time not to implement rate regulation, the legislation passed today would, by law, prevent any future FCC actions from implementing broadband rate regulation.
Washington, D.C.—Congressman Gibbs released the following statement after he hosted the Congressional Agriculture Forum with the Ohio Farm Bureau Presidents:
Congressman Bob Gibbs:
WASHINGTON, DC – This morning the House passed a resolution aimed at restoring the balance of power and reining in an out-of-control executive branch. H. Res. 639 authorizes Speaker Paul Ryan to file an amicus brief on behalf of the House of Representatives in a pending Supreme Court case over President Obama’s executive actions on illegal immigrants.
