Congressman Pete Sessions

Representing the 32nd District of Texas

Transportation

Our nation's transportation network, consisting of the highways, interstates, and freeways that connect America, has always been an integral component to sustaining a strong national economy. Our great state of Texas, and our country, is able to grow and thrive because Americans have always understood the need for a cohesive, unifying transportation network. I understand the importance of having a strong federal-state partnership when it comes to infrastructure funding, construction, and maintenance. But I strongly believe that any long-term federal transportation bill must be fiscally responsible and fully paid for. Efficient and cohesive transportation infrastructure is critical to economic growth. I’m committed to continuing to work toward a unified transportation vision for North Texas, our state, and our country.

Texas is a donor state, which means that Texans pay more into federal transportation funds than it receives back each year. This inequitable distribution diminishes resources for Texas’ transportation infrastructure that are critical to the State’s prosperity. In an effort to ensure that North Texas receives the funds necessary to fulfill our many transportation needs, I’ve work to unite the Texas delegation to make sure Texas does not continue to lose out on federal transportation dollars which benefit DFW and Love Field airports, the Trinity River Project, and our roads and bridges.

Congress has a responsibility to ensure that hardworking taxpayer dollars are used to invest in a fiscally sustainable transportation policy that reflects the needs of our local communities, promotes economic growth, and provides certainty to the job creators that depend on a strong transportation infrastructure.
