Rep. McKinley Receives Two Awards for His Support of Parks and Recreation

Washington, D.C.—Today, Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-WV) was presented with two awards in recognition of his support for parks by the National Association of State Outdoor Recreation Liaison Officers and the National Recreation and Park Association. Rep. McKinley was honored for introducing a bipartisan bill to ensure more funding reaches local parks and recreational facilities.

“Several parks and recreational facilities in West Virginia have expressed concern about the current funding formula for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and how it’s distributed to state and local governments,” said Rep. McKinley. “We listened to them and took action to fix the problem.”

“The current method of funding is not fair,” added McKinley. “This legislation would make more funds available for the many beautiful parks West Virginia has to offer, such Oglebay Park, Canaan Valley Resort, Blackwater Falls, and others around the Mountain State. We appreciate this support from these organizations and look forward to working with them in the future.”

In addition to his work on energy, Rep. McKinley has been recognized recently for his leadership on health care, construction and infrastructure, and recreational issues, among others.
