McKinley Amendment to Cut Funding from Obama's Climate Change Agenda Passes House

Washington, D.C.—Today, the House passed Rep. David B. McKinley’s (R-WV) amendment prohibiting the Defense Department from spending money on climate change policies forced on them by the Obama Administration.

“Earlier this year the President cut the funding of critical sewer and water grants for rural America in order to promote his climate change initiatives,” said McKinley. “We can’t let that happen to our military and national security.”

“This amendment is about prioritizing our national security over ideology,” added Rep. McKinley. “We live in a dangerous world and shouldn’t be diverting financial resources away from the primary missions of our military to fund the President’s climate change policies.”

“The military has been stretched thin by budget cuts and sequestration over the past few years under the Obama Administration,” said Rep. McKinley. “We don’t want to spend money on the President’s controversial climate change plan and put our nation’s security at risk. There are consequences to that.”

This is the 26th amendment offered by Rep. McKinley to pass the House of Representatives.
