WV MetroNews: W.Va. congressmen strongly critical of Iran nuclear deal

“Once the horse is out of the barn, to get that back in is just preposterous s to think that’s going to happen. You don’t give up something you already have,” he said.

President Barack Obama set up an argument that if the United States walked away from the deal, the next alternative would be war. Both Jenkins and McKinley disagreed with the possibility of war.

“That is a false choice,” said Jenkins.

In a separate interview, McKinley said “that is a false scenario,” adding, “I think what we would do is toughen the sanctions. The sanctions have worked. That’s why they’re at the table.”

“It seems we have once again been misled by an Administration more focused on its legacy and earning a Nobel Peace Prize than in securing a peaceful world for the United States and its allies,” McKinley said in a statement.

Congress will have 60 days to review and debate the tentative agreement.
